GEORGE GRUENEFELD - EDITOR IN CHIEF
At the helm of Western Woods & Waters, George is a veteran outdoor writer, author and editor whose experience and expertise spans many decades and many roles. He has been involved, in one capacity or another, in every Canadian outdoor publication and in the process had been honoured with awards not only from the Outdoor Writers of Canada but also the prestigious National Magazine Awards. He is a dedicated angler and hunter whose search for adventures have taken him to Africa, Central and South America, northern Russia and other far flung destinations, but most of all he enjoys the mountains and prairies of Western Canada and the many fishing and hunting opportunities they provide.
Duane Radford is a Past President of the Outdoor Writers of Canada. He’s an award winning writer and photographer who has published over 700 articles and fish and wild game recipes in various magazines and newspapers in Canada and the United States, as well as five books: (1) Fish and Wild Game Recipes Volume I; (2) Conservation, Pride & Passion – The Alberta Fish and Game Association 1908-2008 which he co-authored with Don Meredith; (3) The Cowboy Way; (4) Fishing Northern Canada for Lake Trout, Grayling and Arctic Char which he co-edited with Ross H. Shickler; (5) The Canadian Cowboy Cookbook which he co-authored with Jean Pare and Greg Lepine.
Josh Wood is a freelance writer and avid multi species angler from Manitoba. Fishing is more than just a pass time for him and he takes advantage of the many different fishing opportunities Manitoba has to offer as much as he can. When he’s not wetting a line for one species or another he can be found hiking and exploring different areas of the province.
Jeff Schlachter from Saskatchewan, is Nationally Award Winning Outdoor writer, penning hundreds of hunting and fishing articles for many of North American’s top outdoor magazines over the years. Jeff’s hunting and fishing excursions have taken him on many amazing adventures around the world and he is dedicated to sharing his wealth of knowledge with others, helping them learn more about experiencing the outdoors and what it truly has to offer.
Recognized as one of Canada’s most productive female outdoor media personalities, Heather does it all. An accomplished angler, bowhunter, gun hunter, big game hunting guide, television personality, seminar speaker, writer, and co-host of Canadian Outdoorsman TV online, Heather’s resume is impressive. Aside from her involvement in the outdoor industry, Heather maintains a parallel professional life as a Registered ICU Nurse.
One of Canada’s most prolific outdoor writers - with multiple national communication awards to his credit, Kevin is an active outdoorsman. Specializing in big game and waterfowl hunting with firearms, he professes an obsession for bowhunting and a passion for freshwater angling. Living in Edmonton, Alberta, He and his wife Heather own and operate a successful outfitting business (Venture North Outfitting), deliver seminars through K&H Outdoors, and they also Co-Host Canadian Outdoorsman TV online. When he isn’t shooting, hunting or fishing, Kevin is a safety consultant providing wildlife conflict management services to the oil and gas industry.
I spend a minimum of 100 days on the water each year fishing either for fun, videoing, or tournament angling and have written magazine articles, videoing, field testing fishing gear, or looking for new fishing adventures. I’ve covered most freshwater species of fish and fishing for them and many saltwater species throughout North American.
Michael Hungle is an Award Winning Outdoor Writer and Photographer from Regina, Saskatchewan. He specializes in waterfowling, big game hunting, walleye fishing and introducing kids to the outdoors. Michael is an active member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America and the Outdoor Writers of Canada. His favorite color is camouflage and the license plate on his truck says “TAKE EM”.
Growing up in central Alberta, Craig Temple began his journey as a bowhunter from a young age. A Machinist by trade, he does his best to balance spare time between his wife, 3 young children and the outdoors. Whitetail, Mule deer, Moose, Elk and Bighorns are all high on his list of favorite animals to pursue. Always eager to capture memories with photos, Craig never enters the field without his DSLR in hand.
Bill was born and raised in Delta, British Columbia where he learned to hunt and fish as a boy. He lives with his wife Susan in Duncan, British Columbia and works as a forester for the provincial government. He is a freelance outdoor writer and photographer, fly-fishing instructor, and retired firearms safety and C.O.R.E instructor.
